April 25 is Anzac Day and it marks the anniversary of the first campaign that led to major casualties for Australian and New Zealand forces during the First World War. It is considered by many Australians and New Zealanders to be one of the most solemn days of the year. The soldiers were given the nickname Diggers due to the trenches that were dug in WWI. This day recognizes the sacrifices given of those who volunteered for war. Lest we forget.

In Flanders fields the poppies blow      Between the crosses, row on row,   That mark our place; and in the sky   The larks, still bravely singing, flyScarce heard amid the guns below. We are the Dead. Short days agoWe lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,   Loved and were loved, and now we lie         In Flanders fields.Take up our quarrel with the foe:To you from failing hands we throw   The torch; be yours to hold it high.   If ye break faith with us who dieWe shall not sleep, though poppies grow         In Flanders fields.

Our area is very squirrelly. You cannot go 2 minutes in our backyard without seeing one run by. Otis used to bark and chase them, but now he can’t be bothered. When a dog loses interest in squirrels, you’ve got too many squirrels.
